Mulberry Paper (Hanji), Acrylic, Baltic Birch

The bold Asian calligraphy sets this artwork apart from the other Joomchi PJ has created thus far. The theme of this piece is inspired by today’s struggle to communicate and be understood by others. The handmade hanji cord looping its way through can be an indication of the feeling when that communication breaks down.

Joomchi is a 500-year-old Korean paper-making technique that uses water to fuse several layers of handmade mulberry papers (Hanji) together. PJ Bergin is bringing her unique artistic sensibility to this ancient medium.

Ready for Hanging, all hardware included
