The hand-painted Asian calligraphy is given an unusual surface with the encaustic finish. Various layers of encaustic on the Joomchi-fused Hanji sculpture give the mulberry paper a unique texture and translucency. The artwork depicts strength, creativity and harmony as we continue to renew society day to day.
Joomchi is a 500-year-old Korean paper-making technique that uses water to fuse several layers of handmade mulberry papers (Hanji) together. PJ Bergin is bringing her unique artistic sensibility to this ancient medium.
