Get Social With Us

How do we keep the “wonder” in life?

There is no doubt the recents events in Orlando can lead even the most positive-thinking person to question what type of world we live in. It may seem trite, but this is a time to reach outside of ourselves to look at the world around us and find beauty in items that can help us think in a different way.

One opportunity for this shift in perspective will be the annual Salida Art Walk beginning this Friday. Here artists and galleries will be showing beautiful and thought-provoking artwork. It will help us become grounded again with our own thoughts and feelings of the world around us. Or, at the very least, we may become lost in the great colors and textures and celebrate beauty for beauty’s sake.

That is what my goal will be when visitors make their way to the 2nd floor of the Sellars Project Space at 101 N. F Street to see the new artwork I have created with mulberry paper and beeswax, using the technique called Joomchi.

Most of the artwork featured on my website will be in this Art Walk show. There will also be smaller Joomchi pieces, such as the one shown in the photo, made just for this special weekend.

I will be discussing my artwork and the Joomchi technique in the Sellars Project Space at 4PM on Friday and 2:30PM on Saturday. Join me!
